To be a great shooter you have to be able to shoot off the dribble and from different angles. These basketball shooting drills are designed to improve shooting off the dribble or fast break, improve your overall conditioning and ball handling, increase accuracy and never miss a free throw.  Start and end the fast break yourself and learn how with this basketball shooting workout.

  • Start at the baseline of the right side of the court
  • Jog down the court with a right hand dribble
  • As you reach the cone at the half court line, make a dribble move (i.e. between the legs dribble, behind the back dribble, spin move, in and out dribble, etc.)
  • When you reach the right wing (free throw line extended), pull up for a jumper off the glass
  • Rebound the shot or finish the miss with a free throw shot (don't rest at the free throw line)
  • Repeat the drill on the other side of the court
  • After you make 10 shots (not including free throws), switch sides and dribble down the left side of the court with a left hand dribble and pull up for a jumper off the glass

Sets/ Reps:  Make 10 shots from the right side and 10 shots from the left side

Variations:  Before you pull up for a jumper, execute a move (between the legs, behind the back, spin move, in and out, step back, hesitation dribble etc.).  You can also vary the distance of the shot and pull up for a shorter jumper/ floater or a long distance 3.  Try the drill using no backboard too.

Key points:  Keep your head up while dribbling the ball throughout the drill and focus on make crisps stops for the jumper.
